Module selection is open for undergraduate and postgraduate students until 27 June 2024. Here is how to use My Goldsmiths to select your modules.
Module selection is best done on a laptop or desktop computer.
Step 1 - Check programme guidance
Check if your programme has specific guidance.
Search for your programme
Step 2 - Go to the module selection in My Goldsmiths
Go to My Goldsmiths.
We recommend you do this on a laptop or desktop computer.
Sign in and click the 'Select modules' button.
You will then see a list of the modules you can select from.
Step 3 - check module descriptions
You can click on the module codes to read more about each module.
This is where you will find out who the module leader is and how to contact them, and further information such as whether modules are connected.
Make sure you check the prerequisites and co-requisites.
Each module has a ‘module convenor’ listed who you may contact to find out more about that module and answer any questions.
Step 4 – Select a Goldsmiths Elective
If your programme requires you to select an elective module, you must choose the module you would like to take.
Electives are cross-disciplinary modules that allow students to work with other students from different disciplines. The aim of elective modules is to expand students' knowledge and experiences while at university by allowing them to take vocational or topical modules from other departments.
Step 5 - Select from your programme specific modules
Select the modules would like to take.
Remember to balance your modules over the year.
As you select modules the credits selected total will go up.
Step 6 (optional) - Select modules from outside of your programme
If you want to take modules from a different department, tick the box.
You will then be able to select the department and find the module.
You must first discuss this with your personal tutor or programme convenor and then with the relevant module staff.
Step 7 (optional) - Select modules at another college within the University of London
If you want to study modules from another University of London institution, tick the box and add the details of the module, credits, level and institution.
You must first discuss this with your personal tutor or programme convenor.
You will need contact the member institution directly to request their application form and confirm their process for completing the form, and report this back to your department.
Step 8 - Complete your selection of the required credits
Once you have selected all your modules and have the total number of credits shown, click 'Continue' at the bottom of this screen.
This example shows a full-time year with 120 credits. Part-time years will be different.
Step 9 (optional) - Select alternative modules
You should now be able to select alternative modules. These are for if your first choices aren't available.
The availability of alternatives and the number you can select depends on your programme. You may not be able to select any.
If you do not want to do this, change the selected option to 'I do NOT wish to select...' and go to step 9.
Scroll down the page to select your module using the drop-down lists.
Once you have added all your alternative modules click the 'Continue' button at the bottom of the screen.
Step 10 - Check and submit
You will now see a list of your selections. Check this is correct.
If it is not correct, click 'No, Start over'.
If it is correct, click 'Yes, Submit my modules'. Your modules will then go for review.
Once the selection window has closed, staff will be working to sort through all students’ preferences and making allocations accordingly.
You will be contacted by email during April / May to confirm which modules you have been allocated to for your next year of study.
Step 11 - Selections are allocated by Goldsmiths
